  1. I hate that this tourney is no longer a double elim tourney. I understand the reasoning behind it, coaches not wanting to wear out their staffs, but as a selfish fan, I remember FSU and other teams making memorable runs back thru the losers bracket. It takes some of the fun out of it.

  2. Van Wilder,

I agree that the double-elimination tournament made things a bit more exciting, but the current format has so many advantages it’s tough to argue against it.

You mentioned the benefit to the pitching staffs, which helps teams as they advance to NCAA play. It’s also good for fans because they know which teams are playing when from Wednesday through Saturday. With double elimination, you never knew when teams would play. That also helps TV when it comes to scheduling games.

I see your point, but I don’t think the ACC will ever go back to the old way.

  3. Only thing I have a problem with is that the Tournament is on all different networks on different days. Unless you got DirectTV I think all those stations are on there but if not you gotta catch the replay on Comcast. I had to follow a great game between UVA and UNC on GameTracker and it just ended at 1:30 am with UVA winning in 11 innings 8-7. Now gotta catch the replay at 11 am.

The ACC needs to work out something for baseball just like they do in basketball and football and have alot more games on TV. Happy now finally UVA done something and if we beat FSU, ACC Championship here we come.

  4. Now that we’ve been through it, does anyone still think its a good format? All it does is produce a lot of meaningless games. If they keep this format, I probably won’t bother watching any more.
