ACC Nation baseball power poll — May 18

The regular season is complete and the ACC Tournament begins Wednesday in Jacksonville. This is unofficial, since the ACC won’t release the seedings until Sunday afternoon, but it appears this is the way things will shape up: Division A will consist of No. 1 Miami, No. 4 NC State, No. 5 Georgia Tech and No. 8 Clemson. Division B is No. 2 FSU, No. 3 UNC, No. 6 UVa. and No. 7 Wake Forest.

Each team will play a round-robin schedule against the other three teams in its division. The teams with the best round-robin record in each division will play for the championship on Sunday, May 25, at 1 p.m. We’ll post a game schedule and official seedings when the ACC releases them.

But what is the fun of posting tournament brackets without giving you a guess? Miami has too much offense not to make it out of Division A and Carolina has too much pitching not to reach the finals in Division B. Miami then makes up for losing his weekend to Carolina by beating the Heels and taking the tourney title.

Then again, Wake Forest was the No. 8 seed last season and reach the championship game, so who knows.

On with the rankings.
