ACC baseball power poll — April 28

Virginia took the largest drop this week and, if I could have justified it, I would have dropped them farther. If it wasn’t for Clemson, UVa. would be the most disappointing team in the ACC this year.

Sure, the Cavaliers have 32 wins overall and a winning record in the conference, but they haven’t won a series from a quality opponent yet. Look at the teams we have ranked ahead of the Wahoos. Virginia was swept by both FSU and Miami and lost two of three to both Duke and NC State. Eleven of Virginia’s conference wins came against the bottom four teams in our power poll.

You can argue that, since the FSU, Miami, Duke and NC State series were on the road, it’s tough to fault the Cavaliers too much. OK, then we’ll find out what this team is made of in May when North Carolina and Georgia Tech come to Charlottesville. The guess here is it won’t be pretty for UVa.

Enough Virginia bashing. On with the poll.

12. Virginia Tech (4-20, 18-26) — beat Radford 5-4, lost three at Clemson (5-13, 7-8, 2-10)

  1. Yes Virginia has been a little disappointing and they have disappointed me a little bit this season but they can make it all back up with a 8 game winning streak starting tommorrow against Mount St Marys. They have a 3 game set both at home vs UNC and GT. They sweep both of them they will finish 40-15 and atleast be a 3 or 4 seed in the tourney. I just hope they can do well and have another regional plus I am going to 7 of the 8 games.

    My poll would be:

    1. Miami
    2. UNC
    3. FSU
    4. UVA
    5. NCS
    6. GT
    7. Duke
    8. WF
    9. Clemson
    10. MD
    11. VT
    12. BC

  2. [...] hear ya, P-Hite. Getting swept by Miami really exposed Virginia’s baseball team. Here’s hoping that [...]
