On the show this week we talk to the genius that is Penn Holderness. The NBC 17 sports director got around NCAA regulations about showing NCAA Tournament highlights by using dolls - that’s right, I said dolls - and we crawl inside his warped mind this week. Holderness also gives us his thoughts on North Carolina and Duke basketball.
Also on the show:
- Patrick and Q look at the Sweet 16 matchups in the NCAA Tournament;
- The guys discuss a column by Caulton Tudor of the News and Observer that places the blame for Duke’s recent woes on a lack of leadership;
- With only one ACC team through to the Sweet 16, is the conference no longer as powerful as it once was?;
- A bracket challenge update;
That and more on ACC Nation.

Patrick -
You mentioned conference strength in the podcast - I looked at this in the latest blog entry. Basically, this is an expansion of the comment I made on Will’s entry earlier this year:

Ben
I read your blog post Ben and, as I always say when I read your columns using statistics, it made my head hurt. The first comment on your blog made my head hurt even more.
I wish I had the brains to analyze the conferences like this. I’d then have some basis for my assertions. Instead, I just spout off whatever seems right at the moment (much like what you criticize Bill Simmons for doing).
Maybe I need to start consulting you before I talk about this stuff on the podcast.
Actually, you do just fine Patrick. You know stuff about college basketball, and a whole heckuva lot about the ACC (which is probably why the bracket picking doesn’t work out so hot sometimes).
Bill Simmons does not, but tries to come off like he does and it’s just shoddy work. With his profile and undoubtedly the editors that work on his material, he shouldn’t be allowed to get away with it.
