I listened to your Maryland preview podcast. Thought the nonsense about your massage would never end. Second, why the disrespect for the Terps? You say they won’t make a bowl. Why. You don’t give reasons. We have three good quarterbacks, a ‘good’ problem. The defense will be improved. No talk about our running and receiving games? One of the, if not, the best in the ACC. FREDTERP
First, my massage was important info I felt the listeners needed to know about.
Second, I have Maryland going 6-6, 3-5, but I don’t think there will be a bowl slot for them. Just a guess on my part.
The quarterback situation worries me. Steffy will probably start, but he’s an unknown. Portis and Turner may get their chances, but, again, unknowns. Maybe one of them will surprise me.
The secondary could be a problem. The kicking game will be a problem. And with the close games you can expect in the Atlantic Division, kicking could win (or, in Maryland’s case, lose) games.
I love the running game. Lance Ball is very good. And Hey-Bey is the best in the ACC at receiver. That will help. The defense, at least up front, should be solid also.
The schedule makes it possible for the Terps to do something. The only tough ACC games on the road are Wake and FSU. With BC, Clemson and GT coming to town, maybe Maryland gets a few wins that I’m not counting on.
We’ll see.
FREDTERP - Why the disrespect for the massuese? You aren’t a snob when it comes to Yoga are you? Like if it isn’t Namaste it won’t last ya?
I agree with Patrick’s review of Maryland though honestly I think he was a bit nicer on the overal win-loss bracket than I would have been. All of those “unknowns” make me nervous about the Terps going the high road this year. That may be the factor that came into play when he was thinking about “Bowl Bids” as well but I’ll let him speak for himself.
As for bowls, I just thought the last few bowl bids would come down to Maryland, Clemson and UVa. and it seems to me Maryland is the least attractive of that bunch. Bowl selections aren’t always on merit. I hope as many ACC teams go to bowls as possible, but I just don’t see there being enough slots for every ACC team with six wins. Someone will be left out. My guess - Maryland.
Fair enough. I admit, the Terps have a tough early schedule with WVU, Rutgers, Wake and GT. The quarterbacks and kicking games are big ?s. Your interview with Phil Steele was well-done. When are you doing the Heather Dinich podcast. Do not yak about your personal life, massages, etc. She will hang up. FREDTERP
The podcast will be available Friday morning. Heather is part of our segment looking at ACC schools with quarterback issues. We’re also having Andrew Carter who covers FSU for the Orlando Sentinel; Pete Yanity, the Voice of the Clemson Tigers; and Jacey Zembal of the Wolfpacker.com.
Plus, Pat Forde of ESPN.com is schedule to join us.
As for Heather hanging up on us, she would never do that. After talking to Chris and me, it’s impossible not to love us. We’re like a couple of puppy dogs (of course, if that’s the case, an interview with Michael Vick on the show might no go so well).
